Nigeria’s Population Hits 216 Million, Says Statistician-General

Nigeria’s population is now estimated to be between 216 and 220 million, according to the Statistician-General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), *Prince Adeyemi Adeniran.*

Prince Adeniran made this disclosure during the Renewed Hope Global Town Hall Virtual Conference, where he delivered a detailed presentation on the nation’s socio-economic data.

The Statistician-General also revealed that 4.3 million Nigerians are currently unemployed, underscoring the pressing challenges facing the country.

The virtual town hall, which serves as a platform for government officials to engage with Nigerians at home and abroad, continues to counter misinformation and promote transparency.

Amb. Joseph Kolawole Adebola, chief host and Chairman of the Renewed Hope Global Virtual Town Hall Conference, commended Adeniran for his detailed presentation and appreciated participants for their consistent support.

He also acknowledged the presence of top government officials who took time out of their busy schedules to attend, noting that their participation demonstrated a commitment to transparency and public engagement.

Amb. Adebola urged Nigerians to continue supporting the current administration, emphasizing that the challenges posed by ongoing reforms were temporary sacrifices for long-term benefits. “What we need are the 4 Ps: Patience, Perseverance, Patriotism, and Prayers,”

*Hon. Babatunde Ogala SAN,* Senior Legal Counsel to President Tinubu and Grand Patron of the event, commended Adeniran’s efforts at the NBS and praised the conference organizers for providing a platform to engage Nigerians globally.
