As Ogbaru local government youth football tournament organized by NONSO NWAEBILI FOUNDATI (NNF) ended in a happy and celebration mood, the Chairman, Federal House Committee on FCT Judiciary, Hon. Barr. Ifeanyi Chudy Momah, has eulogized the Chairman and founder of NNF, Barr. Henry Nonso Nwaebili for taking up the task of raising and modeling young citizens Ogbaru local government to be beneficial to the society through development and harnessing their talents and healthy competition. He described this a way of curbing social vices and crime as youths are constantly engaged.
He equally charged other Nigerian Youths to develop more interest Leadership and get more involved in deciding who leads them. Hon. Momah was also at the Ground Breaking of the Nonso Nwaebili Foundation Headquarters and Grand Finale of the Nonso Nwaebili Foundation (NNF) Super Cup Tournament at Iyiowa Odekpe, Ogbaru LGA of Anambra State.
The Federal Lawmaker opined that the current state of our nation can largely be attributed to the docility of the Nigerian Youth towards politics and governance. He regretted that the youths fail to support their fellow youths who aspire for elected office, rather most opt to be pawns in the hands of the older political class. This he described as regressive and urged that more interest be shown by the younger generation towards our future and collective interest by shunning the sidelines of politics and embracing more ambition in deciding the political future of our nation.
The Super Cup Football Tournament, an initiative of the Nonso Nwaebili Foundation (NNF) shut down Iyiowa Odekpe Community as it attracted the attendance of youths , elders and leaders from the religious and political class, across Ogbaru and Anambra State at large.
The NNF Founder and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Anambra State on Protocol Matters, Chief (Hon.) Barr. Nonso Henry Nwaebili left no stone unturned in ensuring that he gave his people a tournament to remember.
The Founder of “OGA NDI OGA” Foundation, Chief Godwin Agbasimalo who was present congratulated the founder of NNF for the brilliant initiative. Describing Football as the most unifying sport in the world, encouraged the Foundation, its convener and other leaders and organisations present, to continue to seek innovative ways of positively engaging the Nigerian youth one community at a time. In her remarks, the mother of the Convener and Former Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Princess Chinwe Claire Nwaebili, expressed pride and satisfaction in the doggedness of her son, Barr. Nonso Nwaebili, and congratulated him for the humanity in him which birthed the laudable tournament. She encouraged youths to continue to support themselves and stand to be counted in matters pertaining to our future as a nation.
In his closing remarks, Hon. Nonso Nwaebili returned all thanks to God Almighty for a successful tournament, in spite of the challenges experienced on his way. He reiterated that his commitment to building a community with a vibrant and productively engaged youth population received a new lease of life, owing to the outstanding turnout and support he received from youths of the community to make the tournament a reality. He stressed that when it comes to the matters of the collective welfare of the Nigerian Youth, sentiments bordering on politics, party affiliations, personal ambitions and vendettas need take the back seat for all hands to come together if the nation of our dreams is to one day be a reality. He sincerely thanked all his benefactors and supporters, including His Excellency, Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, who gave him the platform to stand out as a leader in his community from a young age following his time as Special Assistant and subsequently, as Senior Special Assistant.
It was a extreme moment of Joy when Barr Nwaebili announced football scholarship for the Highest goal scorer and the best player of the tournament.
He affirmed that he will continue to unveil programmes that will be for the development of his community, to the delight of his people and to the glory of God Almighty. Other dignitaries in attendances included: Rev Fr Eguoba (Episcopal Vicar), Hon. Afam Ogene, former Federal House Member, representing, Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Chief Obiora Agbasimalo (Labour Party Gubernatorial Candidate), Chief Ejor Richard (A former Gubernatorial Aspirant), Mr. Chimdi Enyi Nwokeukwu Esq, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Abia State on Sustainable Development Goals, Barr Onyekwelu Nwanosike (The President General of Odekpe), some members and benefactors of NNF, numerous grassroot political stakeholders were equally present including 8 out of 16 APGA Ward Chairmen in Ogbaru Local Government Area. It was indeed an evening of thorough entertainment and fun for attendees and the people of Ogbaru.
