The Office of the Minister of Defence has dismissed reports circulating online that the Minister, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), OFR, plans to resign from his position.
In a public disclaimer issued on behalf of the minister on Monday, his Special Adviser on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, said the rumour was a product of “complete mischief” and urged Nigerians to disregard the report.
The statement reaffirmed that General Musa remains committed to his responsibilities as Minister of Defence and is focused on advancing Nigeria’s national security objectives.
“General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd) remains fully focused on his national security mandate, deeply committed to his duties, and completely dedicated to piloting the nation’s defence strategy,” the statement read.
The minister’s media aide also cautioned media organisations and social media users against sharing unverified information, advising them to seek clarification from the minister’s office before publishing claims concerning his activities.
