A Professor of Islamic Studies, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman has emerged the First Female Vice-Chancellor of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Nasarawa State.
Mrs Liman’s appointment as a substantive Vice-Chancellor of the state-owned University was made known in a statement issued by the Secretary of the State Government (SSG), Barrister Muhammad Ubandoma-Aliyu, on Wednesday.
Açcording to the statement, Governor Abdullahi Sule approved the appointment after wide consultation and consideration of the report of the Professor Attahiru Jega- led Governing Council.
The approval was in the excercise of Sule’s powers as Visitor to the State owned University.
The appointment takes effect from April 15, 2024.
Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman is a Professor of Islamic Studies in the Department of Islamic and Development Studies, Faculty of Arts, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, with Specialization in the area of Human rights.
She had her Bachelor of Arts (B. A) Degree in Islamic Studies with a Second Class Honours (Upper Division) in 1998 from the University of Jos and rose through the ranks and was confirmed a full Professor of Islamic Studies of Nasarawa State University Keffi, NSUK, on October 1, 2017.
Professor Liman held various academic and admistative responsibilities in NSUK.
She was once appointed as Deputy Vice- Chancellor (Administration) by the immediate past Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed from April 2021 -July 2023, the last major position she held before her current appointment as the 5th substantive Vice-Chancellor and 1st Female Vice-Chancellor of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
