….Urges Youth to embrace laudable reforms of President Tinubu, especially the Student Loan Scheme.
The Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) Director-General, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Yusuf Buba Yakub, was today honoured with the Icon of Excellence Award by students of the University of Abuja and the Right Shift Educational Consult for Good Governance Initiative (RSEC). In a glamorous event that took place at the NTAC Complex, Abuja.
The DG in his remarks, said; as an alumnus of the University of Abuja, The visitation by the students was a “homecoming”. He expressed delight over the programme previously organized by the students, which he had supported by sending an elaborate speech through his Media Aide. He encouraged them to sustain the initiative and make it an annual tradition.
In his words he said; “You have just visited your father, and I am proud of the work you are doing. I urge you to keep this up and continue to build platforms that uplift young people. Our nation is going through reforms under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, including the Student Loan Scheme. Despite global economic challenges, our economy remains stable, and as Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala recently affirmed during her visit to the President, we are almost out of the woods. The future of our nation lies in your hands as young people, and I encourage you to hold the torch high for the generations to come.”
The students, led by Mr. Yusuf Tobijani, President of the Student Union Government (SUG), University of Abuja, expressed gratitude to the DG for the warm reception. He described Dr. Buba as a leader whose legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
He lauds the Reformative leadership strategies of the DG, In his words “The legacy you are leaving behind is what the youth will propagate. We are here today to make ourselves familiar with your ideology for humanity. Education is one of the pillars of your legacy, and we are determined to learn from your example. The lecture presented earlier on your behalf by your SA on Media deeply motivated us, and we felt it right to meet the great man behind it,” Tobijani said.
The SUG President further announced that, as a mark of honor and appreciation, the students had resolved to name one of their secretariats after the DG, while pledging continuous support for his policies and vision for youth development.
The Director of Administration at NTAC, Ambassador Abdullahi Ahmed thanked the delegation for honouring the DG with the Icon of Excellence Award.
He noted that “NTAC looks forward to stronger collaborations with student bodies and youth organizations in the future.”
The session concluded with the presentation of souvenirs and group photographs, marking a day of mutual recognition, inspiration, and renewed commitment to youth empowerment and national development.
