(9News Nigeria) – US President Barack Obama held talks with his Nigerian counterpart, President Muhammadu Buhari shortly after United Nations session on Tuesday.
During the meeting, President Obama commended President Buhari on his effort in fighting corruption and terrorism in Nigeria.
Both presidents shared views on way forward for the Africa’s most populous country which is currently passing through hard times security and economy wise.
President Buhari who also attended a high level summit in New York where he spoke on issues pertaining to refugees and migrants, urged for unity among nations in curbing the menace of racism and xenophobia.
President Buhari also decried the displacement of a large number of Nigerians in the North East caused by Boko Haram insurgents. He pleaded for international collaboration and support in order to address the suffering of the displaced persons who have been chased out of their ancestral communities.
