Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), igbesa has been thrown into mourning as a female National Diploma two student from the department of Mass Communication lost her life in a tragic accident along Lusada-Igbesa road on Sunday, 6th of August, 2023.
The deceased identified as Anuoluwapo Adeniji Adeddunni was reportedly hit while on the verge of alighting from a motorcycle alongside the motorcyclist by a hilux jeep just after Lusada-Igbesa Toll gate.
According to Sen. Emmanuel Oluwatomisin Afolabi, President, Association of Mass Communication Students (AMACOS), OGITECH chapter, he had to leave show up from Lagos after getting information of the tragic incident and identity of the deceased from a junior colleague.
He further stated that some anonymous eye witnesses revealed that the hilux jeep, which has been officially confirmed to be under the Management of the Ogun Gwan Dong free trade zone took a wrong route which led to the death of the Student and the motorcyclist.
“various reports I got was that the student was still breathing but was rejected by two hospitals in Igbesa after which she eventually gave up the ghost.” He said.
It was gathered that Students of the Institution gathered at the entrance of the Free Trade zone immediately after the incident and plan to converge this morning to demand that the culprit be brought to book alongside financial compensation to the family of the deceased, erection of building structures in memory of the dead student and proper condolence visitation to her family.
Sources claim that the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS), Ogun State chapter are on their way to support the students in their fight for what they termed as justice for the Adeddunni.
The culprit has been reportedly arrested by the police and the lady’s corpse has been taken to the mortuary.
