As Ogun becomes a new hub for sports excellence, not only in Nigeria, but across the continent of Africa, the State has recorded a remarkable year of sporting triumphs and accomplishments under the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government.
These successes were notable just as the Commissioner in charge of Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, commemorated his second year in office.
Hon. Isiaka, while fielding questions from Journalists on his second year anniversary in office at Abeokuta, opined that the vision of the present administration was to reposition the State to become the power house of sports in Nigeria as well as achieve larger infusion of Ogun Indigenes in Team Nigeria to the Olympics.
Isiaka revealed that youths could become professional athletes with fulfilling careers within the evolving world of sports, advising them to key into various sporting opportunities organised by the Government, just as the State had etched its name in the annals of sporting history with impressive results that showcased capabilities and potentials.
He added that the MKO Abiola Sports Arena’s hosting of an international friendly match between Nigeria’s Super Falcons and Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses, continental matches, involving Remo Stars and Kwara United, further solidified Ogun State’s reputation as a premier sports destination, which investors and sports enthusiasts could look inward to for viable investment and sponsorships.
