Controversy bedevilling the news of Barrister Uche Onyeagucha’s hire as legal counsel to IPOB/ESN is dominating the airwaves while the people are seriously watching to see the outcome.
It was also alleged that same political guru from Owerri west Imo state Nigeria is interested to contest the 2023 Imo governorship election through the APGA political platform.
However this development may not be a surprise to NIGERIAN politicians but it will be of great importance for Imolites to understand the game plan.
This is contained in a press release singed by Collins Ughalaa KSC

GLOBAL ASSOCIATION OF CONCERNED IMO YOUTHS (GACIY)
PRESS RELEASE
ONYEAGUCHA’S APPOINTMENT AS IPOB COUNSEL VINDICATES US
News of Barrister Uche Onyeagucha’s hire as legal counsel to IPOB/ESN comes as no surprise but we offer our congratulations.
For starters, he once stood as counsel to militants under the defunct Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and MOSSOP respectively.
A partisan nomad, Onyeagucha relocated to the PDP in the throes of the 2019 general elections where he tore up and chewed election results to secure his slot as Secretary to State Government during the interregnum of Emeka Ihedioha. Recall that during that regime, he led thugs on ambush missions, brawled with legislators, ran a syndicate of touts, and when that abberation was corrected, cursed justices of the Supreme Court on national TV. Even a bat could have foretold that Onyeagucha’s manic history would endear him to the group.
For us, Imo PDP is in lock-step with all manner of non-state violent actors and Onyeagucha’s appointment is proof. Nigerians can now see why the PDP bursts a vein each time the Hope Uzodinma administration goes tough on crime; why the activities of unknown gunmen titillate the PDP so much so that they now raise false alarms and push our people into fright just for laughs.
From the onset, Governor Uzodinma has maintained that the security challenges in Imo are politically motivated. Arrested bandits also confess to being funded by politicians and groups operating locally and in the diaspora. With this appointment, at least the world can now see that the banditry plaguing the region bears the fingermarks of political actors who see in crisis a pathway to power in 2023.
That Onyeagucha has indicated interest to serve as legal counsel to the IPOB/ESN is another proof that political actors can go to any length to foment trouble, provided it gives them the slightest gusto that Governor Hope Uzodimma could be removed from office, or that as they foment trouble in Imo the people could accept them in 2023 as the messiah. This is at best malairia induced dream.
We cannot decide for Onyeagucha who to associate with, or for that matter dictate what alliances the Imo PDP can form, but we call on the President and Commander in Chief, to give every support to Governor Hope Uzodinmma as he takes strenuous but necessary steps to salvage our State from the seige of violent and bloodthirsty men who will rather choose power over the lives of their own people.
