Onyemaechi’s Motion On “Light Up Imo Electricity Bill” Goes For Second Reading Expecting Accelerated Passage

TODAY’S PLENARY AT THE IMHA THIS THURSDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER, 2024.

Few moments ago the Imo State House of Assembly IMHA resumed sitting at about 11: 49am this Thursday morning dated 5th September, 2024 having witnessed a well constituted house full of IMHA Honourable Members of the 10th Assembly alongside the IMSU political science students on study excursion present at the plenary.

House member and majority of IMHA Hon Chief Kanayo Onyemaechi’s bill on “Light Up Imo Electricity” went for second reading while calling for its speedy acceleration.

The bill was strongly supported whole and entire by co- Honourable Members present at the plenary this Thursday which Included the Deputy speaker, Chief whip, Ideato North and South, Mbaitolu, Oguta, Orsu, Onuimo, Ohaji Egbema, Orlu, Njaba House members and the minority leader respectively.

Recall that earlier this year 2024, the President Tinubu’s FG “light up project” was established and in due course the 10th Assembly mandated the state government to partner with the LGA’s and orashi power distribution plant to execute this important bill raised and brought before its House by Rt Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi Egbe.

The bill when passed and executed will improve the intrest of investors in Imo state as stated by its sponsor, Chief Onyemaechi.

The mover of the Bill Chief Kanayo Onyemaechi was well commended by his fellow distinguished colleagues for the initiation and sponsorship of the “light up Imo bill” while calling for its realization.

In futherance, he maintained that the bill will help to facilitate and expand, maintain and distribute power generation across the local government areas in the state.

The raising of this light up electricity Bill shows how people’s friendly, Rt Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi is to his constituents and Ndi Imo at large. The bill is expected to decongest the city from business crowds whereby it becomes easier for people to invest more in various businesses at the rural area and villages.

In the end , the “light up Imo Electricity Bill” after completing and execution will surely stabilize electricity supply and improve the life expectancy of Imolites and make way for its affordability and sustenance.

Meanwhile, same LightUp project was inaugurated at zonal level earlier in the year 2024 in Enugu state Nigeria.
