Last week,I led a delegation from the Oyo State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources alongside the Oyo State Solid Waste Management Authority (PYOWMA) on a study and facility inspection visit to Kigali, focused on understanding the operational model of Rwanda’s water and sanitation systems.
This engagement builds on the earlier visit of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde,as we continue to explore practical area of mutual benefits between Oyo State and the Government of Rwanda.
The visits marks an important steps in our bilateral cooperation joyrney, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and institutional learning that will strengthen our environmental and sanitation systems back home.
A key highlight was the reaffirmation of this partnership through direct engagement with the Managing Director of WASAC Group (Water and sanitation Cooperation),MWISENIZER Maxime Marius.
Another highpoint of the trip is the massacre Feaca Sludge Treatment Plant under construction, the aim and the focus of the construction is to actually see how Feaca Sludge can be treated to produce fertilizers for agricultural use and also water for agricultural purposes and the other non use aside for human consumption.
The water generated can also be further treated for human consumption or food processing where possible which is an option which they are still considering.
This is an Initiative that Oyo State will buy into considering the present need of finding a suitable way to dispose such waste.
Note: The Rwanda government has achieved water supply to 90% of its citizens and they are hoping to do better;this is one of the reason why we have come to establish the handshake and in due time too,we will ensure we begin to unfold gradually some of the things we learn from study.
We remain committed to building strategic partnerships that deliver measurable impact and improve service delivery for our people.

Honourable Ademola Aderinto
