Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, known as Mr P, has testified in a $1 million fraud case involving his brother and former manager Jude Okoye.
P-Square is credited for bringing Nigeria’s Afrobeats into global music scene.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed a seven-count charge against Jude, accusing him of secretly registering a new company in his wife’s name and using it to divert royalties from the defunct P-Square group.
Jude Okoye has pleaded not guilty to all counts, insisting that all financial records during his tenure as manager were transparent and accounted for.
The trial has been adjourned until June 4, when Peter Okoye is expected to be cross-examined.
The case marks a new chapter in the ongoing family and professional rift that led to cross-examined.
Jude Okoye is facing a seven-count charge filed by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), alleging money laundering to the tune of N1.38 billion, $1 million, and €34.537.59, alongside his company, Northside Music Limited.
