The stage is set for the People’s Democratic Party PDP to commence screening of aspirants at various positions.
However, list for screening made available to 9News Nigeria in Abuja contains all aspirants for governorship, State Assemblies and National Assembly elections in all the seven states in North West geopolitical zone which are Sokoto, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Jigawa, Kebbi and Zamfara. The exercise is scheduled to hold on tomorrow Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28th.
Members of the screening committee are Chief Celestine Omehia; Chief Mike Ahamba, SAN; Dr. Olusegun Mimiko; Edward Ashiekaa, SAN, and Mrs. Hilda Makonto.
Also listed as members are Dr. Akiku Indabawa, Hajiya Hassana Dikko, Dr. Esther Uduehi while Ms. Chinedu Nwachukwu will serve as Administrative Secretary to the committee. A former Senate President, Chief David Mark, is the chairman of a nine-member committee that will screen the aspirants.
However, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will on Friday begin the screening of the 17 aspirants jostling for the party’s presidential ticket for the 2023 election.
Slated for screening are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; former Senate President Bukola Saraki; former Anambra Governor Peter Obi and Sokoto Governor, Aminu Tambuwal.
Also to be screened are; a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Pius Anyim; Bauchi Governor, Bala Mohammed; Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike; and Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom Emmanuel.
Former Ekiti Governor, Ayo Fayose; Cosmos Ndukwe, Mr. Charles Ugwu, Chikwendu Kalu and Tariele Diana Oliver are on the list.
Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa; a former bank chief, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen; a United States based medical doctor, Nwachukwu Anakwenze; and Ovation Magazine publisher, Dele Momodu.
This is contained in a schedule of activities released by the National Organising Secretary of the PDP, Umar Bature.The release indicated that the screening exercise will hold at LEGACY HOUSE, ABUJA, the PDP presidential campaign headquarters.
At the end of the screening on Friday 29-04-2022, NIGERIANs will be eager to see those candidates that will flag the PDP flag, mostly that of the PRESIDENTIAL ticket against the leading APC party. It is going to be an interesting Election.
