In Imo state Nigeria, rumours have continued to spread on the planned evacuation and mass burial of corpses abandoned in FMC mortuary Owerri.

9News Nigeria reports that the proposed mass burial of such corpses found littered in the FMC mortuary have overstayed its time and every effort made by hospital management to reach the owners proved abortive.

While addressing Newsmen in Owerri, Dr Ezeafurukwe Paul Ihunanya, DG New Media to the Imo prosperity government, hinted that the practice is in line with the international standard practice.

However, the Management of Federal Medical Center (FMC) Owerri has announced its intent to conduct mass burial of uncollected and abandoned corpses within their mortuary.

This is a routine practice with mortuaries, all over the world to decongest the morgue and it’s backed by the relevant laws establishing and regulating their operations.

These uncollected and unidentified corpses could be accident victims, dead, mad people and/or abandoned corpses.

However, Uzodinma’s administration has it on good record that the opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have perfected plans to propagate falsehood and hatred to the public in respect of this, against the Imo State Government.

The Government on the other hand advised the public to kindly disregard any misleading information that would be spread by the opposition in this regard.
