Plateau: Bandits kill over 40 persons, raze several homes in Wase LGA

Tragedy struck again in Plateau State as bandits in their numbers swooped on a community in Wase Local Government Area of the State, killing over 40 persons and leaving many others injured, while several houses were equally burned by the rampaging gunmen.

9News Nigeria correspondent learnt that bandits armed with sophisticated weapons at about 7:00pm on Monday attacked Zurak village on a motorcycles and opened fire on everyone on site.

Açcording to Sahpii Sambo, a youth leader in the area, who confirmed the incident, the bandits arrived at the community on a motorcycles -two to a bike -with sophisticated weapons and started shooting sporadically at everyone.

He said “More than 40 people were killed, while many others injured.

“Residents of the village have fled to neighbouring communities to have a cover. As of yesterday, security personnel had not yet arrived at the community. It was a deadly attack”, Sambo said.

The spokesperson of the State Police Command DSP Alfred Alabo could not be reached for comment on the issue.
