Plateau: Mutfwang expresses concern over communal clashes in Langtang North/Mikang LGAs, calls for truce, dialogue

Plateau State Governor Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has strongly denounced the recent outbreak of inter-communal clashes that has injured many people and destroyed property in villages that border Mikang and Langtang North local government areas of the State.

Following the outbreak of violence on Saturday March 24 and Sunday March 25, 2024, Governor Mutfwang expressed his condolence to victims and criticised the alterations as needless and unacceptable.

He stressed that these kind of actions are counter productive to the government’s concerted efforts to promote harmony and peace among people from different racial and religious origins, all working towards the common goal of promoting the development and prosperity of the State.

Açcording to the statement issued by Gyang Bere, Director of Press and Public Affairs to Governor Mutfwang disclosed that the Governor expressed his dismay over the conflict, as he said dialogue was the most civilized and effective means of conflict resolution.

He questioned the rationale behind individuals resorting to violence, taking law into their own hands, and targeting innocent communities with arson.

Recall the inter-communal clashes in Langtang North and neighbouring Mikang LGAs on Saturday and Sunday were more than five villages were attack by unknown hoodlums.
