Jos — The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old school owner, Ahmed Bello, over the alleged sexual abuse of a 9-year-old female student in Jos North Local Government Area.
The Commissioner of Police, Ayodeji Faniyan, disclosed this while parading Bello alongside 22 other suspects arrested for various offences in the state.
According to the Commissioner, the suspect allegedly called the girl into his office while she was returning to her class after receiving medication at the school first aid office.
Faniyan said the incident was reported to the police on August 22, 2026, after the girl allegedly told her mother that she had been sexually assaulted by Bello.
Police said the girl, whose identity has been withheld, was allegedly taken to the hospital for medical examination, while the suspect was arrested.
In a separate case, police also arrested 35-year-old Saleh Abdullahi over the alleged sexual abuse of an 11-year-old girl.
The police said the girl alleged that the suspect lured her into a room, abused her and threatened to kill her if she told anyone.
Both suspects are being investigated, and police said they will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
The allegations have not been proven in the court, and both suspects remain innocent until proven guilty.
