As part of measures towards preventing the spread of malaria in Nigeria, the Plateau State Government received 2.9 million treated mosquito nets from the World Bank through the Presidential Malaria Initiative.

The State Commissioner for Health Cletus Shurkut, while supervising the distribution of the nets to the 17 Local government area of the state, said that the goal was to reduce the high prevalence of malaria in the region.

AƧcording to Ndak Kizito, Coordinator of Malaria Initiative within the Ministry of Health, said the effort was to guarantee that every household in the State benefited from the initiative. Ifeanyi Chukwu, a representative of the Global Health Supply Chain, also stated that prior to the launch, health staff had received technological support through training, which guaranteed high-quality distributions.
