Alhaji Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa who died earlier today, Wednesday has been buried in Kaduna according to Islamic rites amidst glowing tributes .
In a statement issued by SSA media and publicity to the president Shehu Garba, The president eulogized the former governor. According to him,”President Muhammadu Buhari joins government and people of Kaduna State in mourning a former civilian governor of the state, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, whose passing will be sorely missed by all Nigerians, who have diligently followed his antecedents as a voice for the voiceless.
“The President believes Alhaji Musa reflected the passion and vigour that heralded Nigeria’s independence, which steadily translated into activism for return to democracy at the height of military interregnum & has remained steadfast in the call for good & inclusive governance.
“As the former governor goes home, the President affirms that he left a bold footprint on Nigeria’s democracy, and his role in promoting good governance and development will always be remembered and appreciated by posterity.
“President Buhari prays that the almighty God will grant his soul eternal rest, and comfort his family, friends and associates.”
On his part, Ahmad Lawan,the Senate President in a statement signed by his Special Adviser(Media),Ola Awoniyi ,the Senate President mourns former Kaduna State Governor Balarabe Musa.
“The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has condoled with the family of former Kaduna State Governor, Alhaji Balarabe Musa over his death.
Lawan also commiserated with the government and people of the state over the incident.
“The Senate President described Alhaji Balarabe Muss as a principled political leader who throughout his life consistently championed the cause of the masses.
“Lawan said the former governor shunned material benefits and remained constant on the path of his convictions all through his long and illustrious political career.
“The Senate President said Alhaji Balarabe Musa’s life personified the struggle for the underdogs, adding that his legacy is indelible and will always be cherished.
The Senate President prayed for the sweet repose of his gentle soul in Aljannah.”
Meanwhile, former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar described Balarabe Musa as leading lightin the struggle for democratic rule. According to him, “Balarabe Musa was a leading light in the struggle for democratic rule, and he will be remembered for the heroic role he played in putting a stop to military rule and restoring democratic governance in the country. Indeed, he died in active service for democracy.
“As we mourn the loss of a patriot, it will be good to honour his memory by upholding the values that he lived and died for.
“Balarabe Musa lived for Nigeria’s unity and common understanding amongst the diverse tribes and cultures; he lived for a country where every citizen would be prosperous and safe.
“I pray that the Almighty Allah would accept his soul and give his family, associates and the government and people of Kaduna State the fortitude to bear the loss.”
Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Mourns Balarabe Musa’s Death… Says It’s Huge National Loss
According to the information made available by the party ,”The PDP is deeply grieved by the death of elder statesman, outstanding democrat and former governor of old Kaduna state, Alhaji Balarabe Musa.
“The party described Alhaji Balarabe Musa’s death as a huge national loss given his steadfastness, patriotic contributions and zeal in fighting for the unity, stability and development of our nation.
“Alhaji Musa was a forthright leader, an embodiment of ideals, who spent better part of his life championing the entrenchment of justice, equity, fairness and rule of law in every sector of our national life, despite the challenges he faced.
“Our party commiserates with the Balarabe Musa family, the govt & people of Kaduna state, as well as his friends and associates even as we pray that the Almighty God grants eternal repose to his soul and fortitude to the family &the nation at large, to bear this irreparable loss.”
