The Borno State Police Command has announced the arrest of 65 suspects and the recovery of large quantities of illicit drugs during raid operations across Maiduguri metropolis.
The operations were carried out on the 9th and 10th of July, 2026 by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Anti-Social Vices Unit.
This was contained in a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, on Friday.
He said the crackdown was in compliance with the nationwide directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Ridwan Disu, to intensify the fight against crime and criminality across the country.
Also, the command’s commissioner, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, said the directive was aimed at sustaining aggressive enforcement against anti-social vices.
During the raids, the operatives recovered a total of 460 wraps of cannabis, popularly known as Indian hemp.
They also seized 395 tablets of D5 and 100 tablets of Exzol.
In addition, 2 capsules of Tramadol, 1 shisha pot, 2 ice bunkers and 2 packs of other suspected illicit substances were recovered.

The suspects were arrested for offences including public nuisance, possession and consumption of illicit drugs, and other related anti-social activities.
The ccommand also noted that the suspects and exhibits are currently in custody while investigations are ongoing.
The case will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
CP Abdulmajid commended the dedication and professionalism of the operatives while reiterating the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the state.
The Police also urged members of the public to continue supporting the force by providing timely and credible information to prevent and combat crimes.
