The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two men, Abubakar Ibrahim and Isa Ayuba, over the abduction and subsequent killing one Felicia Namkywa, a petty trader, in Obi local government Area of the state.
DSP Ramhan Nansel, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer in a statement on Sunday said the arrest was carried out by detectives attached to Obi local Division of the Nigerian Police.
According to Nansel, the arrest was sequel to a complaint lodged at Obi Divisional Police Headquarters indicating that the trader was missing for days, and all efforts to traced her whereabouts proved abortive.
He said preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was lured via phone call by one of the suspects who was owing the trader the sum of N40,000. He reportedly beckoned on her to come and purchase grains in one of the Fulani settlements (Ruga)of the area.
“The suspects subsequently led the police operatives to the scene where the decayed remains of the victim were recovered.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department to swiftly conclude the Investigation and charge the suspects to court for immediate prosecution.
“He further extended his condolences to the family of the victim and urged them to be calm while assuring them that justice would be served”.
