Police arrests killers of Benue senator’s brother in Nasarawa State

The Nigeria Police command in Nasarawa State has arrested the assassins that killed the elder brother of the former governor of Benue State, Senator Gabriel Suswam.

Dr. Terkula Suswam, who was the immediate elder brother of Senator Gabriel Suswam, was murdered on March 2, 2021 at Anyiin, his home village in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, by what was initially described as “unknown gunmen.”

The Nasarawa State commissioner of police (CP), Bola Longe, paraded the six suspected hired assassins and armed robbers, including Saalumun Waako, popularly known as Osama, who was among those that allegedly murdered Dr Terkula Suswam.

Longe said Waako was arrested along Keffi-Abuja Road on the July 2, 2021 alongside Paul Aba, Frederick James, Tersoo Zugu, Kenneth Samuel and Simon Achano, while trying to assassinate some people around Uke in the Nyanya Gwandara area.

The CP said preliminary investigations revealed Waako as a member of the criminal gang responsible for the gruesome killing of Late Dr Terkula Suswam, who was an elder brother to the Senator representing Benue Northwest, Gabriel Suswam.

He is on the wanted list of the Benue police command for offences ranging from kidnapping, homicide to armed robbery and has been handed over to command.

The police in Nasarawa equally paraded some 65 suspected criminals over offenses ranging from vandalism, cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping and other sundry offences, while axes, cutlasses, daggers and criminal charms, gas cylinders/machines, laptops, motorcycles, vehicles, GEM handsets , firearms and live ammunition were recovered from them as exhibits.

The CP warned all criminal elements in the state to desist from all forms of crimes or face full heat from the force.
