The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the lynching of a man identified as Samaila Zaria by an irate mob who accused him of killing a boy.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer SP Ramhan Nansel confirmed the incident on Friday in a statement.
According to him, the incident occurred in the Tsoho Kasuwa area of Keffi Local Government Area of the state.
The police spokesperson also confirm that the office of the vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, in the area was vandalized during the incident.
“The Mob turned violent and attacked the responding officers, however, the police acted professionally to disperse the crowd and successfully evacuated the corpse to the hospital. An investigation into the incident has commenced”, he added.
