The National Police Council on Monday confirmed Olatunji Disu as the substantive Inspector-General of Police.

The confirmation was done at the meeting of the council, conveyed by President Bola Tinubu in line with the provisions of the 1999 constitution.

Following the confirmation by the council, Disu’s name would now be sent by the President to the Senate for screening.

9news Nigeria recalls that President Tinubu, lastweek, accepted the resignation of Kayode Egbetokun as the Inspector-General of Police following the submission of his letter citing pressing family considerations.

The President received the resignation letter on Tuesday and expressed appreciation for Egbetokun’s service to the Nigeria Police Force and the nation.
