Police urges Nigerians to report officers operating without name tag

The Nigeria Police Force is urging citizens to report any officer found on duty without a visible name tag.

This comes after the Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu, ordered strict compliance with Section 50 (4) of the Nigeria Police Act 2020, which makes it mandatory for all personnel to wear name tags while on duty.

The Force Complaint Response Unit reinforced the directive in an official communication on its X handle on Wednesday May 6, 2026 calling on members of the public to promptly report violators.

The Unit linked the move to its ongoing #NoToIMPUNITY campaign aimed at promoting accountability and professionalism within the force.

This latest directive forms part of wider reforms by the current police leadership to improve discipline and foster better police-community relations across the country.
