Members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Nekede Chapter, (ASUPNEK) have been urged to be of good conduct by shunning all acts of malpractice prevalent among them.
Rector of the institution, Engr. Dr. M.C. Arimanwa FNSE, JP, gave this challenge earlier Tuesday September 20-09-2022, when he addressed members of the group who called on him as part of activities marking the ASUP Week.
In his words, “I challenge the ASUP chairman and his members to ensure that there is no act of malpractice found amongst lecturers. Everyone must take it as a challenge as I encourage you all to make us proud with your actions and not give us reasons to be sad as members of Management.”
He further reminded the group on their pivotal role in the institution as our source, FEDPONEK Gazette made available to our correspodent.
According to him, “If there is no academic business then there is no polytechnic. Therefore, this is first an educational institution and that makes you important people in the polytechnic. You provide the main services in the institution. Being the major players therefore brings a lot of responsibilities which demand that you do things appropriately.”
Remarkably, the Rector charged members of ASUP to maximize the activities lined up in their special week to keep fit physically and medically, reminding them to be physically and emotionally stable on the job committed in their hands.
In his response, chairman of ASUPNEK, Comr. Emmanuel Nosike, thanked the Rector for his robust support to the union.According to him, “We are very happy that you do give us time anytime we call on you.
“We are also happy that you have offset our peculiar allowances. Just last week, we received part of our allowances for the evening programme.”
He also appreciated the Rector for his genuine understanding with the plight of lecturers during the multilateral consultations for the review of textbook cover price, pledging to support the Rector in the fight against misconduct on campus.
