
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it has commenced investigation following unusual complaints surrounding the release of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.
The results, which were released last Friday, have sparked significant number of complaints from candidate, particularly concentrated in few states across the Federation.
In a statement on Monday May 12, 2025 by the Board’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB disclosed that it is fast-tracking its annual post-examination system reviews, and comprehensive audit traditionally conducted months after the exercise, in light with the concerns raised.
The review according to the statement, will scrutinize every stage of the examination process, from registration and conduct to the release of results, to identify and address any potential technical issues.
It further explained that during the examination phase, JAMB ensured that every candidate was able to sit for their test and, in cases of technical glitches, promptly rescheduled affected candidates.
JAMB noted that the Board is particularly concerned about the volume and nature of the complaints coming from special states, and examining these reports.
The statement added that to assist in review, JAMB has assembled a team of technical experts, including members of the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria, Chief External Examiners who are heads of tertiary institutions experts from the Educational Assessment and Research Network on Africa, measurement specialists, and Vice Chancellors from various universities.
The examination board declared that If investigations confirms the existence of technical challenges, JAMB will implementation appropriate remedial measures without delay.
It will be recalled that following the release of the 2025 UTME results, many candidates took to social media to express their concerns, claiming their scores did not reflect their actual performance in the examination. They had called for thorough review of results.
JAMB has now reaffirming its commitment to fairness, accuracy, and the integrity of its examination processes.
