Nigerian singer and performer, Habeeb Okikiola, well known as Portable, has distanced himself from the much anticipated planned nationwide protest slated for August 1 across Nigeria.
The protest themed, ‘EndBadGovernance’ is scheduled to hold from the first week of August as the end date is unknown.
Subject to media coverage, many notable Nigerians, including government officials have urged the organizers to call it off, insisting that the event was most likely sponsored and thereby unnecessary.
Meanwhile, Portable who said that he participated in the controversial ‘EndSARS’ protest of 2020 has lent his voice.
According to him, his involvement in the protest was as a result of his previous financial and social woes, stressing that it is ‘poor thinking’ that causes people to protest.
“They said that I joined the protest in 2020. It was then, poor thinking! Now that I have money, I am thinking like a wealthy person.
“Have you ever seen Otedola and Dangote protesting? You won’t see people like Dele Momodu. Better mind your business! I didn’t have money back then. I’m now thinking like a rich man.” Portable explained.
