President Buhari resumes work, sends letter to National Assembly

The ailing Nigerian president, Muhammad Buhari was said to have resumed his official duty today Monday 13th March 2017.

The report was released via the president’s official twitter handle  which stated that the president has resumed work and has formally transmitted letters to Nigerian Senate and House of Reps in compliance with S145 of the amended 1999 Constitution.

In the same vein, the Senior Special Assistant to the president on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu also attested to the report in his official twitter handle @GarShehu repeating the report in barely different sentences. The tweet reads: “PMB resumes duties; notifies National Assembly in compliance with Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended)”

The president who was away on medical vacation in London for over fifty days returned to the country in the early hours of Friday 10th March 2017 looking very sick and fragile.

The return of the president has increased the hopes of some Nigerians who believe that his return would help to curb the economic hardship in the country. For other Nigerians though, the president’s return may affect the little progress achieved by the vice president, Osibanjo, who acted as the president while Buhari was in London.
