An advocacy group known as project princely initiative international has in its totality condemned violence against women and abuse of female children to mark International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women .
This statement was made by its Founder few hours ago at a programme organised for women of the state who turned up in their numbers to preach civil rights and good governance in owerri,Imo state.
Speaking at the event alot of goodwill messages from notable Nigerians were communicated inline with the rebuild Imo agenda of His Excellency,Rt.Hon. Emeka Ihedioha to return good governace to the people of the state.
Message from Dr. Nma Olebara reads as thus: “Violence against women continues to be a reality of women’s lives even till date.It is an endemic problem that knows no national boundaries,no class or caste,no religious boundaries.It continues unabated both inside and outside the home”
9News has authoritatively gathered that often times females are abused of their rights while majority of them engage in the recent trend of sexwork and lesbianism and call on the government to address such issues of female and human rights abuse all over the states of the federation.
Recall that most cultures devalue women,relegate them to the background and treat them as 2nd class citizens.
Dr.Nma Olebara futher stated that prejudices against women are deep rooted.Violence against women in any form is a crime,whether the abuser is a family member,someone you date,a spouse,boy/girl friend,a acquaintance or stranger.
Record has it that in USA women die on regular basis on the estimated rate of four daily as a result of domestic violence.Two to Four million women of all races are being battered everyday.Every year approximately 132,000 women report that they have either been victimised,raped,physically assulted,child abuse,anti abortion terrorism and anti attacks on poor women.
Meanwhile,170,000 of these violence are serious enough to require hospitalization,emergency care or doctors’ attention.A call in the right direction is to educate, enlighten,train and secure our female children and women..
