Okunade Bolarinwa Janet has led contingent from Yejide Girls Grammar School Ibadan to emerge top at the 2024 edition of the Inter-Girls Secondary Schools Oratory Competition organized by SheCares Charitable Foundation.
Olajide Iyanuoluwa Mary also spearheaded her colleagues from St Louis Grammar School Ibadan to secured the second spot while Adelubi Adedamola Olajimoke from Deril Academy Alakia Ibadan and her team came third.
The annual all-girls oratory event held on Friday, June 28, 2024, at the Educare Trust Youth Center, Ibadan had about 15 schools drawn from Ibadan and its environs, and mostly private schools with the only two public schools among them winning the first and runners-up prizes.
Explaining the rationale behind the educational event, Helen Akpabio, an experienced researcher and event anchor who is skilled in coaching, team building, and public speaking, said, “the theme: Embracing and Sustaining African Values and Culture via Education, was picked to acquaint the participants and widen their knowledge more about the African culture.”
The Mother of the day during the event, Ambassador Romoke Ayinde, The Iyalaje Adinni of Oyo State in her remarks commended all the schools that participated in the educational program, saying they all made their various schools proud with their presentations.
She however lauded the seal and eloquence of the girls from the public schools which made them to come out top at the end of the event. The United Nations Ambassador of Peace in her usual characteristics donated money to the first three schools that came out top in the competition.
