The House of Representatives Committee on Finance has recommended the exemption of military personnel from Personal Income Tax in Nigeria.
Committee Chairman Abiodun Falake announced this on Thursday during a clause-by-clause review of four tax bills forwarded to the Parliament by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in October 2024.
“Mr Speaker, honourable colleagues, the committee has proposed the personal income of military personnel should be exempted from tax. This is due to the critical nature of their duties”
The proposal received unanimous approval from the lawmakers.
