Allegation against my ministry is false, It lacks good standing and cannot be justified- Commissioner Noble Atulegwu opened up
IMO: Series of investigations conducted by team of Media experts in Owerri has revealed that the Imo state government through the ministry of lands has not in anyway involved itself in the rumoured Land Grabbing War with the good people of Owerri West, 9News Nigeria reports.
In recent times, there have been allegations circulating about the Imo State Government engaging in land grabbing activities in Owerri West through the Ministry of Lands.
However, such reports have no stand as investigated by our News crew and till date have remained unverifiable and misleading since no signatories were attached to it as 9News Nigeria reports.
Furthermore, a closer look at the situation reveals that the claims are unfounded and misleading as gathered by Team-Dr Ezeafurukwe Paul Ihunanya, Director General Hope New Media.
Under the leadership of the Commissioner for Lands, Hon. Noble Atulegwu Abiaso, the state government is committed to transparent and equitable land allocation, ensuring the welfare of its citizens and promoting sustainable development.
It is essential to understand that according to the Land Use Act of 1978, all lands in Nigeria are vested in the government, and individuals can only hold land rights as granted by the government.
This means that the government has the authority to utilize land for the betterment of the people, subject to due process and compensation where necessary. The actions of the Imo State Government fall within the purview of this legal framework, and no land grabbing is involved.
Moreover, the state government has consistently emphasized its commitment to compensating individuals whose lands may be affected by development projects.
The welfare of the people remains a top priority, and any land acquisition for public purposes will be done responsibly and in consultation with the affected communities.
Furthermore, the Imo State Government has distanced itself from any act of land grabbing, reaffirming its dedication to transparent and fair land allocation.
Lands will continue to be allocated to individuals who meet the necessary requirements and are willing to contribute to the state’s development.
It is crucial to recognize that certain groups with vested interests are attempting to thwart the government’s developmental plans by illegally occupying government-owned lands.
These cabals are working against the progress of the state, hindering its efforts to ensure sustainable development and shared prosperity.
Hon. Noble Atulegwu, the Commissioner for Lands, has been a staunch advocate for the developmental agenda of the shared prosperity government.
He remains committed to upholding the principles of fairness and justice in land allocation and cannot be involved in any act that sabotages the state’s progress, as alleged by some quarters.
