The Rivers State House of Assembly reconvened on Thursday.
It was its first plenary sitting in six months, following the expiration of the state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu had lifted the emergency rule on September 17, directing Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and members of the assembly to resume duties effective September 18.
Thursday’s session was presided over by Speaker Martins Amaewhule and held at the conference hall within the legislative quarters in Port Harcourt.
The venue has served as a temporary chamber since the official assembly complex on Moscow Road was gutted by fire and later demolished by the state government.
The reconstruction of the complex was left unfinished by the outgoing sole administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd).
