Saudi Arabia breaks new ground by participating in the Miss Universe Pageant for the first time.

The historic moment allows their contestant, Rumy Alqahtani to proudly showcase her face and skin on the global stage.

In a ground breaking move, 27-year-old Riyadh native Rumy Alqahtani will represent Saudi Arabia in 2024 Miss Universe Beauty Pageant.

This milestone reflects the ongoing reforms championed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.

Alqahtani, who is also a social media Influencer boasting of one million follower on Instagram expressing her excitement on Instagram, declared her participation in a prestigious global pageant as the representative of her country and also emphasized the significance of her country’s debut at the beauty pageant.

She said: “I am honoured to participate in the Miss Universe 2024 competition. This marks the first participation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Miss Universe Pageant”.

Her participation follows her trailblazing footsteps of Bahrain’s Lujani Yacoub, who made history at the previous year’s competition, marking the first appearance of a contestant from the conservative Gulf region.

Scheduled to take place in Mexico on September 18, the upcoming Miss Universe competition will witness Iran’s debut alongside Saudi Arabia.

Alqahtani, a dentistry graduate fluent in English, French, and Arabic, has earned various titles including Miss Saudi Arabia, Miss Middle East (Saudi Arabia), Miss Arab World Peace 2021, and Miss Woman (Saudi Arabia), she has also showcased her talents on global stages with her recent participation in the Miss and Mrs Global Asian Pageant in Malaysia in February.
