Amidst Nigeria’s economic challenges, student of the University of Jos (UNiJOS), Plateau State, have expressed worry over institution’s alleged school fee increment.

According to a statement signed by the Student’s Union President, Sambo Peter, and Speaker, Joshua Uguwmba, the state union leaders requested a meeting with the Directorate of Student Affairs after reports of the increment emerged.

During the meeting, the Directorate confirm the reports. Some of the increased charges include: Utility/Sundry charges from N20,000 to N25,000, Students’ Union Government dues from N1,000 to N2,000, Examination fees from N7,500 to N10,000 among others.

Mr Sambo states that the Students’ Union Government, SUG, made its opposition to the increment clear during the meeting.

The Directorate thereafter promised to convey the SUG’s position to the school’s management with the intent to revert back the union.
