The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a press release advising Nigerians and the Federal Government of Nigeria on plans to mitigate the incessant menace of the Fulani herdsmen clash with farmers especially at the Southern part of the country.
He made the statements on Saturday 13th March 2021 while addressing some vital issues in the country with more emphasis on the deplorable security lapses.
In his statement, Bola Tinubu said that the herder-farmer dispute has taken on acute and violent dimensions, and that it has as well cost Nigeria too many innocent lives while destroying the property and livelihoods of many others.
In his view, the APC leader, Bola Tinubu asserted that the crisis between the Fulani herders and farmers should not be classified as ethnic conflicts citing that the cause is largely attributed to the current economic hardships in the country as well as some administrative voids that created security lapses.
Tinubu also blamed the situation on other causes that include the proliferation of weapons, increase in criminality, weak social institutions, desertification, increased severity and length of the dry season, diminution of water resources, impairment of land fertility and population growth.
He said “Because of the violence that has ensued and the fretful consequences of such violence, if left unabated, we must move in unison but decisively to end the spiral of death and destruction.”
Tinubu, therefore, warned that the situation in the country has already reached a worrisome apogee that should no more be escalated for any reasons.
