Security Forces apprehend gunrunners, recover weapons in Plateau

Personnel of 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Joint Security Task Force, Operation Safe Haven have apprehended some suspected gunrunners and recovered arms, and ammunitions of different calibers including motorcycles and other dangerous weapons.

The intelligence-based operation leading to the arrest of the suspects and recovery of various calibers of arms and ammunitions are part of continued efforts to ensure the security of lives and property within the joint operations area of the 3 Division and Operation Safe Haven respectively.

According to a statement from the Information Department of the Joint Security Task Force, the personnel during an operation in Jos South said it arrested the notorious gunrunner who was conveying arms and ammunition to Farin Lamba within the same the same locality.

Barely two hours later on the same day, security agencies at the same Kwanan Fulani axis intercepted another group of four gunrunners.

According to the same statement from the Information Department of the Joint Security Task Force, search on the criminals activities led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one fabricated AK-47 rifle, one round of 7.62 millimeters, three motorcycles and one jack knife.

The arrested suspects and recovered items are in the custody of security agencies for interrogation.

The joint Security Task Force expresses commitment to ensuring the security of lives and property within the joint operations area, with a call on members of the public, to continue to avail security agencies with timely intelligence which will aid in ridding the area of criminal elements.
