Sen. Osita Izunaso(APC-IMO WEST) is a foundation member of APC as well as a ranking member of the national assembly and infact the most qualified as well as the most experienced senator especially from the southeast and southsouth for the position of the Senate President.
Just as i stated few days ago during our webinar meeting, Sen. Izunaso has worked as a staff of both the senate and the house of representatives without any daint.
I have known him for more than two decades now and i can vouch for him , he’s from my state.
He worked as the Chief Press Secretary to Chief Agunwa Anekwe then Speaker of the House of representatives in 1992.
At the inception of this democratic dispensation in 1999, he served as the Chief Press Secretary to late Chief Evans Enwerem then president of the senate.
Furthermore, in 1995-1997 he had earlier served in the same capacity (CPS) to Chief Jim Nwobodo who then was the minister of Youth& Sports as well as that of Labour & Productivity from 1998-1999 after a cabinet reshuffle.
He was a special adviser (Media) to former governor of imo state, Chief Achike Udenwa and also the immediate past National Organizing Secretary of APC.
In 2003 , Sen. Izunaso was first elected into the House of Representatives and by 2007 based on his unrivaled unprecedented high performance especially on the delivery of Democracy Dividends to his people, his senatorial constituents honoured him by electing him into the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In the senate, he served as the chairman of various committees including Rules and Business, Local and Foreign Debts , Housing, Oil&Gas, Foreign Affairs, Sports Development,etc.
Sen. Osita Izunaso participated actively and even led in debates during plenary sessions as well as sponsored so many bills for the good governance of the country.
During the last election , Sen. Osita Izunaso worked tirelessly for the Victory of BAT our Principal by providing logistics support to different groups not only in imo state but the entire southeast zone inspite of the daunting challenges there.
It is on record for all to verify that Sen. Izunaso is the “Only Ranking Senator” from both the southeast and southsouth that delivered BAT 100% at the polls.
I deliberately mentioned the “only ranking senator” because Governor Dave Umahi of ebonyi state is a first timer to the senate and by senate rules he’s not qualified to run for the presidency of the senate.
Dear colleagues, as the Moral Compass of all the groups (NGOs/CSOs) that supported and worked for BAT our principal, it might be necessary and indeed pertinent for us to persuade,guide and advice our principal and the party on the choice of a good and generally acceptable candidate for the position of the senate president.
Sen. Osita Izunaso is a man of Experience, Proven Track Records with Unquestionable Character, Integrity, Loyalty and Dedication and will work harmoniously with BAT.
I don’t want to say this but; Compare sen. izunaso with others from above mentioned zones that have baggages of corruption and ongoing efcc prosecutions.
May God help us and our leaders to do the right thing for the country especially as it concerns the Success and HitchFree tenure of BAT our principal.
