
The senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, formally submitted a petition against Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday, accusing him of sexual harassment.
Speaking under Order 40 of the Senate Rules, Akpoti-Uduaghan stated that she had previously made the allegations against Akpabio during an interview with reporters and had decided to present them officially before the Senate.
Following her remarks, Akpabio directed her to proceed with the submission, which she did.
Earlier, the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions has rejected calls for live television coverage of the proceedings against the Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The Chairman of the Committee, Senator Neda Imasuen, disclosed this on Wednesday during an interview with reporters.
Explaining the committee’s decision, Imasuen emphasised the need to maintain focus on the issue at hand without external distractions.
