The Société Generale Bank Nigeria (SGBN) Alumni gathered for their inaugural reunion dinner in Abuja, on Saturday, celebrating a cherished legacy and renewing the bonds among former colleagues, executives, and partners.
The event marked a historic gathering for the SGBN alumni family, as former colleagues and dignitaries came together to commemorate the bank’s legacy and reconnect after years apart. The reunion chairman opened with a warm address, recalling memorable moments shared during their time at the bank. This was followed by a solemn tribute to honor former staff members who had passed on.
Representing event chairman H.E. Dr. Bukola Saraki, the SGBN BOT chairman Dr. Okon Amasi expressed gratitude for the enduring contributions of the alumni and acknowledged the impact of those unable to attend. A roll call was held, sparking laughter and nostalgia as attendees reminisced about their former roles and the unique bonds formed during their time at SGBN.
Dr. Amasi then led an interactive session focused on the association’s future, including plans to formalize the group as a corporate entity and ideas for alumni-led community initiatives. Members discussed ways to offer support within the alumni network and explore avenues for giving back to society.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of awards to several distinguished alumni, including H.E. Dr. Bukola Saraki, former Kwara State Governor H.E. Abdulfatah Ahmed, Dr. Okon Amasi, and Chief Timi Alaibe, recognizing their significant contributions to the bank’s legacy.
The night’s activities also included a celebratory cake-cutting ceremony,
symbolizing the sweetness of shared experiences, followed by dancing, which capped off the evening. The reunion left attendees with renewed connections and a commitment to preserving the legacy of SGBN for years to come.
