GAC Members, Party Leaders Forced to Flee Amid Chaos

In yet another brazen display of lawlessness, thugs reportedly loyal to the former Chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA, Hon. Yusuf Adisa Shakiru, stormed the Council’s premises in the Igbogila area of Ipaja during the Local Government Mid-Term Inspection and Assessment Stakeholders’ Meeting on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. The inspection was led by H.E. (Otunba) Femi Pedro, but the event quickly descended into chaos, sending participants fleeing for safety.

Shockingly, one of the key figures behind the violence was identified as Tadeyo Jamiu, infamously known as “De-Royal,” a notorious cult leader and the APC Legal Officer of Mosan-Okunola LCDA. This same De-Royal had earlier in the day been employed by Alhaji Yisa Yusuf aka YY to disrupt the performance assessment exercise at Mosan-Okunola LCDA. As it now appears, De-Royal was called once again – this time by Shakiru Yusuf – to replicate the violence at Ayobo-Ipaja, with the intent to destabilize the peaceful proceedings.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that the attack escalated when a participant, Mr. Obadina, was slapped by one of the thugs. From that moment, all hell broke loose. Prominent attendees, including the APC Woman President of Alimosho Federal Constituency, Hon. (Mrs.) Bola Afolabi, Mr. Kayode Adisa and Alhaja Risikat Ogundimu, the APC Welfare Officer for Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA, were caught in the melee, with many sustaining injuries as bottles, chairs, and other dangerous objects were hurled at random.

Despite the presence of police officers, the environment remained volatile. Participants expressed outrage at the disarray, blaming the former Chairman, Shakiru, for hijacking the entire process. His refusal to allow the Executive Vice Chairman, Hon. Ladi Oladipupo OLO, to properly introduce the dignitaries present compounded the situation, casting a shadow over what was meant to be an orderly mid-term assessment.

Participants presented evidence to the Inspection Committee regarding the attacks and the blatant use of thugs to intimidate stakeholders. In response, H.E. Otunba Femi Pedro, Chairman of the Inspection Committee, canceled the meeting due to the gross irregularities and the clear threat to participants’ safety.

“Immediately after the cancellation, dignitaries like Hon. Okoya Thomas, Hon. Kenny Saint Brown, and H.E. Otunba Femi Pedro had to run for their lives as the thugs, under Shakiru’s orders, turned increasingly aggressive,” one source reported.

This incident, coupled with the earlier disruption at Mosan-Okunola, raises serious concerns about the growing use of violence to manipulate political proceedings within Alimosho. It also highlights the troubling alliance between figures like Yisa Yusuf, Shakiru Yusuf and dangerous individuals like De-Royal, whose unchecked aggression threatens the integrity of the political process.

We strongly urge the leadership of our great party to urgently investigate this disturbing trend of orchestrated violence. If left unchecked, it threatens not only the integrity of our democratic processes but also the peace and stability of our local councils.
