A South Sudanese man residing in Europe since 2021 has been remitting £1,250 each month to his brother in Juba, South Sudan, aiming to construct a two storey building comprising seven rooms.

Since the beginning of his financial support, the total amount sent to his brother has reached an estimated 300 million South Sudanese Pounds (SSP), equivalent to about N3.77 billion Nigerian currency, based on his transaction receipts.

The funds have allowed his brother to build a substantial home in Shirkat, an area noted for its undocumented status.

However, coming back home from Europe, what he bargained for was not what he saw as he was shocked and devastated, leaving him in sober.
