A Nigerian Food Delivery Driver, Noel Njoku was shot dead on the job in Mitchellville, Maryland USA, 9news Nigeria reports.
The 48-year-old victim, Njoku was shot and killed while delivering food to a home in his area on Thursday morning, August 12, 2021.
9news Nigeria learnt that the driver, Noel Njoku hails from Imo State, married with four children: two daughters, age 15 and 13, and an 11-year-old twin boys.
According to the police, Njoku was found suffering from gunshot wounds at about 12:20 a.m. in a car in the 3700 block of Lottsford Vista Road.
The preliminary investigation revealed Njoku was delivering food to a home in the area when he was shot. He was taken to a hospital, where he died. It wasn’t immediately clear who killed Njoku or why, police said in a statement.
Reacting, his brother, Chidi Njoku said: Njoku was a happy, “peace-loving person” who moved to the U.S. from Nigeria decades ago. He had only recently started working for DoorDash.
“Please, anybody who has any information, please, please, please — anybody who has any information should come and help us out, please,” he said through tears.
