Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North, has revealed that Simon Ekpa, the self-styled “prime minister” of Biafra Government in Exile, repeatedly threatened him over his stance on Biafra.
In an interview with Arise Television on Monday, Kalu stated that Ekpa called him multiple times, issuing, threats because of his refusal to support the Biafra agitation.
“Simon Ekpa was calling me threatening me that I don’t support Biafra, but I left him to his conscience”, Kalu said.
The Former Abia governor stressed the importance of intelligence-driven approaches to combatting crime, urging security agencies to be proactive.
“I am resolute when it comes to ensuring security and can go to great lengths to protect the lives and property of the people I served”, he added.
Kalu also advised South-East governors to take firm stand against criminal activities in the states.
“No leader should condone crime. I eradicated crime during my tenure, and no governor should allow any form of criminality in the state”, he said.
His comment follow reports that Finnish authorities arrested Simon Ekpa on November 21. The pro-Biafra agitator was remanded by the district court of Paijat-Hame for allegedly spreading terrorist propaganda online.
