The Special Assistant to the National Welfare Secretary (NWS) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Uche Okorie has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for assenting and signing into law the South East Development Commission Bill.
He also thanked the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu for sponsoring the the South East Development Commission ( SEDC) bill and ensuring its passage into law, acknowledging that despite futile efforts in 2017 it had finally been enacted.
Recall that Rt. Hon Benjamin Kalu didn’t just sponsor the bill, he also expanded its scope, emphasizing that the commission will address the developmental challenge in the South East geo-political zone and complement the existing regional potentials.
According to him, the South East region needed this commission as a model for collective responsibility and development.
“This move clearly demonstrates that President Tinubu is a patriot committed to the progress of all regions within Nigeria.
“A special congratulations and a big thank you to my brother Rt. Hon. Kalu for achieving this feat for our region. I urge our people in Igboland to cooperate and collaborate with the Federal Government of Nigeria to help the commission function effectively”. He said.
Okorie also congratulated the Federal Government of Nigeria for achieving this milestone in nation building.
