Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has delivered a speech urging Nigerians to maintain a positive outlook on their country and speak positively about it.

Speaking at the launch of the Renewed Hope Cities initiative in the Federal Capital Territory, Tinubu emphasized the importance of optimism, stating that it will ultimately lead to success. Despite the various challenges facing Nigeria, such as economic hardship, inflation, kidnapping-for-ransom, and a weakening currency, Tinubu encouraged citizens to remain hopeful and focus on the positive aspects of their country.

During his speech at the event, Tinubu expressed his commitment to Nigeria’s economic prosperity and development, pledging to work towards achieving these goals. He called on Nigerians to recite the national pledge and reaffirm their loyalty and dedication to the country. Tinubu highlighted recent achievements, including the victory of the Nigerian national football team, the Super Eagles, which he saw as a symbol of Nigeria’s potential for success.

Regarding the housing sector, Tinubu stressed the importance of shelter as a fundamental right and the responsibility of the government. He commended the Ministry of Housing for its efforts in providing housing and urban development and praised their collaboration with the private sector through public-private partnerships (PPPs). Tinubu acknowledged the role of the private sector in contributing to Nigeria’s future growth and prosperity.

Tinubu concluded his speech by encouraging Nigerians to look forward and remain hopeful, assuring them that they have a country that cares about their well-being. He expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to excel in all areas and called for the defense of national unity and honor.

In recent days, Nigerians of diverse backgrounds have protested against the government to do something to harness the continuous increase of essential commodities, especially food in Nigeria. 9News Nigeria reported a mass protest in Minna, Niger State, which focused on the escalating cost of food and the deteriorating economic conditions, has created a stir within the Bola Tinubu administration. It also played a role in influencing the President’s decision to issue directives to relevant officials, urging them to implement immediate measures to curb the rising food prices in the nation.

President Tinubu’s speech emphasized the importance of optimism, positive dialogue about Nigeria, and a commitment to the country’s economic development. He encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful, highlighting recent achievements and the government’s efforts in housing and urban development.

He said, “Here again, let’s talk to Nigerians. Let’s talk to ourselves and say everything positive about our country. Don’t think of your country negatively. Before I left home this morning, I asked for the national pledge of our country. And we have to relaunch it and ensure we are committed to the value, the greatness, the hope of our country.

“It is our country. You pledge to Nigeria, your country, my country to be faithful loyal, and honest. To serve Nigeria with all your strength.

“You saw it on the field of play with the Super Eagles yesterday. We were all rejoicing. Every one of us loves victory. We love to win. When you are positive and you are hopeful, Nigeria is winning.

“We didn’t say it will be smooth all the way through. But we are confident that this country will excel in all ramifications. We will defend our unity and uphold our honor and glory in every way possible. Because we are Nigerians and we have no other country.”

“Nigerians, don’t look back, look forward. Be hopeful. Be assured that you have a country that cares about you and you must care about the country, Tinubu added”
