🟢 Harps On Unity Of Ndi Owerri West
A competitive football tournament have officially commenced in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State Nigeria targetted at hunting best talents and uniting the good people of the area with sporting activity.
9News Nigeria reports that the event was kicked off Friday at Avu Central School, where the Sole Administrator of Owerri West LGA, Victor Osuigwe performed the opening ceremony.
Addressing the players shortly before the kickoff, Osigwe enjoined the players to put up the spirit of sportsmanship and play in all fairness,adding that talents would be harnessed and a formidable team for Owerri west would be formed at the end.
The high point of the match was the presentation of ball by the Solad to the Ohii player Chibuzor that scored 4 goals.
The tournament was graced by notable Sons and Daughters of Owerri West LGA including the Hon member representing Owerri West in the IMHA, Rt Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi (Egbe), DG of IGIS, Hon Chukwuemeka Amaechi, Owerri West APC Chairman, Hon Humphrey Umunnakwe, LGA Woman leader, Hon Mrs Chinyere Ofurum, community PG’s, GLO’s and other notable personalities too numerous to mention.
Recall that Owerri West people are sports loving and hospitable when it comes to hosting of guests and this has given birth to Owerri West Unity football Tournament.
The turn out of football lovers was high while the teams were scheduled accordingly to take their turns as expected.
The kick-off match was between Ohi and Oforola, Avu and Ndegwu, Nekede New Road and Irete, Eziobodo and Prefer, Okuku and Amakohia Ubi, Obinze and Ihiagwa, Umuanunu and Nekede Old Road in that order. The event is expected to come to a final closure on November 4th, 2023.
