The Supreme Court on Tuesday heard the appeal filled by the governor of Plateau State, seeking to overturn the verdict of the Court of Appeal which nullified his victory and instead declared Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the valid winner of the poll.

The case took a fresh twist as apex Court delayed its Judgment, leaving the political state of Plateau hanging on the air.

At the proceedings on Tuesday, the Counsel to the Plateau State Governor, Kanu Agabi (SAN), argued that the verdict of the lower Court departed from judicial precedence and urged the Supreme Court to set it aside and restore Mutfwang:s electoral victory.

But opposition, counsel to the APC, Omosanya Popoola, urged the apex court to uphold and seal Mutfwang’ removal from office.

A five -man panel of the Supreme Court Justices led by Justice John Okoro, reserved Judgment to a date to be communicated to the parties.

Mutfwang a candidate of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP), scored 525,299 votes to beat , the Alll Progressives Congress candidate, Nentawe Yiltwada Goshwe during the March 18, 2023 Governorship poll in Plateau State.
