Thee All Progressives Congress (APC) Plateau chapter has urged the speaker of the State assembly Gabriel Kudangbena Dewan to swear in the 16 All Progessives Congress and Labour Party (LP) members who were declared winners by the Appeal Court.

Recall that on 24th November 2023, the Appeal Court nullified the election of the 17 members of Plateau State House of Assembly, elected under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and declared the first runner ups be issued Certificate of Return (CoR) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).These comprise of 15 members of the APC and 1 from the LP.

However, the speaker in January said he would not swear in the new members until the court’s determination on the suit by the sacked 16 PDP lawmakers.

But on Tuesday, the appellate court dismissed the suit and fined the sacked lawmakers N8 million naira each for seeking review of its judgement that sacked them on the strength that the party lacked structure to sponsor candidates..

Due the judgement by the court on Tuesday, APC in a statement in Jos by its Assistant State Publicity Secretary Nimzing Pyennap, called on the speaker to swear in the new members without any further delay since the appelellant court had reaffirmed them as the winners of the election.
